Map Of The Philippines Northern Luzon

The Philippines is a land of extraordinary tropical rain forests and coral reefs. It has been dubbed the Galapagos Islands multiplied by 10. It is home to about 510 unique species of animals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Additionally, the nation is located on the East Asian Migratory Flyway, which connects birds migrating from the south pole to the north pole and back each year. Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary, located only minutes from Cebu City, has been recognized internationally for its educational tours and conservation activities. Scuba diving and snorkeling on ecologically rich coral reefs are other popular sports, with excellent resorts and coral reefs located within a few hours' drive of Manila. Forests cover less than 18 percent of the total area, or around 5 million hectares. And only around 800,000 hectares of this forest are classified as old growth. These natural resources provide millions of Filipinos' food security and jobs.

There are no roads going to Batad, and the settlement is devoid of motorized vehicles. Prepare for a lot of walking and climbing, since all visitors to this secluded mountain community must do so on foot. Walking is often only feasible along the walls of rice terraces that are broad enough for one person to pass at a time. While the rice terraces in Banaue are made of mud, those in Batad are made of stone. The terraces, which create an amphitheater, are a sight to see.
